Meet The Womxn In Weed Who Want You To Have Sweet Dreams

Felicity Chen and Christine Yi are the ultimate California cannabis-darlings. Their company, Potli, makes absolutely delicious plant-based hemp-infused edibles that elevate even the most aspirational of pantries. Fel and Chris are whip-smart and kind, both devoted to destigmatizing cannabis by creating the best products on the market while educating their customers about the benefits of cannabinoids.

This week Potli launched their latest product expanding their line of honey harvested on Felicity's family farm in Northern California to include a Hemp Infused Raw Honey specifically for sleep. Their new product, Dream, promotes deep rest via a tested hemp oil ratio and a smidge of melatonin. Delicious and decadent on its own or in a cup of herbal tea, Dream is the perfect addition to your evening routine (especially all y'all who have a hard time getting to REM).

Step your pantry game up and shop Potli goodies today, cutie.

CHELSIE: How did Potli get started?

CHRISTINE: We knew we loved cannabis, we knew there weren't products on market our conservative Asian immigrant mothers would want to try. And Fel's dad started beekeeping to harvest hyper-local honey for her mom in their backyard, and the rest is history! Honey has so many amazing health properties, and in ayurvedic medicine is known as one of the most powerful vessels for herbal remedies, and what better herb for wellness than cannabis?

CHELSIE: What's your skincare routine?

CHRIS: I use a cleanser (two step-cleanser if I wore makeup that day), which varies but is always acne-combatting- I have super oily and acne-prone skin so cleansing is critical! Followed by Son & Park Beauty Water, a little bit of SK II Essence slapped on with my hands, and Cos RX moisturizer. That's usually it! I'll add serums in between, and usually switch it up. I also use Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Peels when I can afford them (seriously). Two or three times a week I try to add in a mask, and gua sha before an event to help with puffiness. But I'll tell you this- whenever I'm breaking out it usually has very little to do with what I'm adding to my face! It's usually because I've been eating a ton of dairy or approaching my period or not drinking enough water.

FEL: My morning routine starts by my Kate Sommerville Exfolikate, followed by toner, Ole Henriksen Truth Serum, Drunk Elephant Polypeptide Moisturizer, and Supergoop Sunscreen. At night I swap out my cleanser with Kiehl's Rare Earth Deep Pore Daily Cleanser, followed by Tatcha's Skin Softener, Sunday Riley Blue Sleeping Oil, and Laneige Water Sleeping Mask.

CHELSIE: What inspired this new product launch?

CHRISTINE: Our honey was our first and remains our best-loved product, and customers always told us they loved to use it before bed to sleep better, it was one of the most common points of feedback we heard! We wanted to build directly into this use case and make a product that's specifically formulated for helping you get better sleep, which is so important especially with all that's going on in the world.

CHELSIE: What's the most rewarding part about being an entrepreneur?

FEL: Freedom! I get to wake up and dream up what I think is the best way to market, create, and run our business. And while it's absolutely difficult and tough as nails, it's so rewarding to be your own boss. You're in absolute control of what you put out there and for the things that are not you get to pivot and adjust to it. I wouldn't have it any other way.

CHELSIE: What about the most difficult thing?

FEL: Ah, I think about how there are so few hours in the day that we are constrained to. I often think about, what if we had more hours, what would I accomplish then? But the truth is, we have to be very strategic on what we spend our time on and protect it. And therefore, what we do pay attention to is very intentional. There is just no way we can do everything and help everyone in a given day and sometimes it is a difficult process to communicate that.

CHELSIE: What advice would you give folks looking to start their ventures?

CHRISTINE: A few pieces from me- know what your priorities are and don't be afraid to stick to it. In fact, it's imperative that you do! Advice is free and learning things the easy way is best, but also don't be afraid to not take advice. If we took all the advice from everyone we respected, we'd be pulled in a thousand different directions. And solve a problem! Your business will come together more easily if you do!

CHELSIE: Who or what inspires you most?

FEL: My mom :). She is the reason why I started this company, and she is getting a bunch older now. She is so sweet and hard-working, and now is getting older and is anxious about things out of our control. I think she needs to eat more honey!

CHELSIE: 5 things you're grateful for today?

  1. Our launch! We had the highest sales in a single day on yesterday when Dream Honey launched, and want to push that ceiling up and higher!
  2. My health and of those I love. Everything else is icing.
  3. Hong Sam Won ginseng drink pouches. My Korean mom made me start drinking them (she's also had a 10 step skincare routine for as long as I can remember) and they're so balancing~
  4. I'm wearing a pair of Ugg boots I dug up from 2006 that my friends in middle school bought together for my birthday for pitching in $5-$10 each, can you believe it? I'm so grateful for friends old and new!
  5. Collaborative lady friends like the Troupe gals who lift us up!

FEL: Health, collaborations, launch!, family, deep sleep.
